We normally use open source web applications to form the basis of the website. For each website we:-
- Select the most suitable web application(s) e.g. Joomla Content Management System, WordPress blog, Magento eCommerce, PHPBB3 forum, Moodle Learning Management System
- Install web application(s)
- Configure web application(s)
- Select and customise web application template(s) - the look and feel of the website
- Create the basic structure of the website
- Insert and format text and images, optimising for chosen key words and phrases
- Install and register Google Analytics
- Register with different search engines webmaster tools
- Basic website promotion
Where time (and cost) is hard to estimate is:-
- Template customisations e.g. if the first look and feel is not right
- Sourcing or creating text and images
- Integrations with other applications
